UEC Life
Last September the Ukrainian Education Center welcomed a new employee Ira Ikonnikova (pictured on the left.) Ira was hired to be a part-time desk worker, and thanks to her work, the UEC is now able not only to stay open to visitors throughout the week, but also on Saturdays. Ira comes from the small city Prydnistrovsk in western Ukraine. She came to study in Kyiv, and now she is a second-year student at the National Aviation University where she studies international economic relations. Ira came to know Christ two years ago in the USA when she spent a year on exchange in Minnesota. We first met her when she came to Nivky Church of Christ looking for a community in Kyiv. Since then, Ira has become a faithful church member, and we often see her check out books by C.S. Lewis and Christian CDs at the UEC. We are very happy to have Ira as a wonderful addition to our UEC family. It was a great encouragement to hear Ira confess that she went to her previous place of work every day with only a desire to get paid, but now she comes to the UEC because she enjoys her work.
